About the Band

The Greenbelt Concert Band has rich history in Greenbelt since its founding in 1937

Founded in 1937, the Greenbelt Concert Band is a volunteer adult musical organization with a long and proud tradition of service to the City of Greenbelt and surrounding communities. Within three years of its founding, the City of Greenbelt began sponsoring the Band, establishing a legacy of municipal and community support that continues today.

The Band is dedicated to providing high-quality musical performances for residents of Greenbelt, Prince George’s County, and the surrounding region. Performances include civic and charitable events such as concerts for veterans’ groups and retirement communities. Regularly scheduled concerts take place during Greenbelt Day Weekend in June and at the Holiday Lights Festival each December in the City of Greenbelt. Most concerts are open to the public, and all performances are free of charge.

Composed of musicians from local communities, the Greenbelt Concert Band is open to all individuals with appropriate playing experience. The Band rehearses on Monday evenings from 7:00–9:00 PM in Room 201 of the Greenbelt Community Center, continuing its mission of community engagement through music.
